New home for the Fontmell Magna Friendship Garden

Posted on:

As you are aware, the Fontmell Magna Surgery site has been closed for a number of years now and our patients are all receiving healthcare services at Abbey View, Sturminster Newton or Marnhull Surgeries.

Nationally there is a shortage of GPs and this is affecting Blackmore Vale Partnership’s ability to recruit to our vacant positions.

After much clinical safety discussions and consideration, working alongside NHS Dorset, we now can see no other option other than to permanently close the site and end our contract there. Keeping the site open is not clinically safe nor financially viable, as we are unable to make use of the premises.  We have reached the decision that the site will be closing by the end of the year.

Our patients will continue to receive their healthcare as normal at the other sites, and staff will not be affected.

We know that the Friendship garden at Fontmell Magna has been a much-loved space for the community and we are working with the Friendship Garden to move it next door to behind the village hall.

In the meantime, people can continue to use the garden this summer until it’s relocation by the end of the year.

Anyone who has any questions is invited to ask a member of the practice management team, or email: [email protected].

We thank you for your understanding.
